NEW for 2019!

Local Qualifiers who win their bracket will have the opportunity to come to Emporia! We will have a stroke play tournament on Thursday for all the winners of local qualifiers that lost in the state bracket to compete for the empty slots in the national bracket that begins Friday. For example, if there are 58 state winners, that leaves 6 open slots. The top six scores will determine who will make the national bracket. Upon arrival, players will also receive $1,000 in store credit. On Friday and Saturday, there will be a B-Tier and a flex C-Tier for those who do not make the national bracket or lose any of their matches on Friday.

This year, we will offer up to 16 unreleased Latitude 64 Moonshine Keystones per bracket at $10 each for local and state TDs. This will be the only chance to get your hands on these until they are released later on in the year.

Who?

Current PDGA member guidelines – Disc golfers rated 969 or below as of January 1, 2019 or have not taken cash as payout. New members who do not have a current PDGA rating are eligible to compete.
Non-current PDGA members – Disc golfers who have never been rated 970 or above.
Non-PDGA members – Disc golfers who are not current PDGA members or are so new to the PDGA that they do not have a rating are eligible to play in the event.

What?

Local USAMPC singles qualifier match play brackets will be held throughout the United States and Canada in April. A list of these events can be found on the UDisc app (coming soon!). Players that meet the qualifications described above can pay $45 to compete in one of these brackets. Please contact the TD to get more information on local details. The Local Qualifying Bracket may be conducted over a few days or over the period of a few weeks. The Local Qualifying Bracket TD will determine the timing of when the brackets need to be played. The $45 entry fee is a one time cost. Players will receive a Dynamic Discs Lucid-X Escape and Latitude 64 Retro Keystone in their player pack. If a player advances to the next levels, there are not additional entry fees. Winners of Local Qualifying Brackets will move on to the State/Province Bracket. Winners of the State/Province Bracket will move on to the Championship Bracket in Emporia, Kansas (June 20-23, 2019).

When?

Local Qualifying Brackets – March/April 2019
State/Province Brackets – May 2019
Championship Bracket in Emporia, Kansas – June 20-23, 2019

Where?

Bracket TDs will establish the locations for the Local Qualifying Brackets matches.
State or Provincial Coordinators (or a designee) will establish a date and location prior to Local Qualifying Bracket matches.
The Championship Bracket will be hosted in Emporia, Kansas.

Why?

Match play is an exciting way to compete as a disc golfer. Match play has grown in popularity and the unique format provides an opportunity for using a different strategy than what disc golfers typically employ playing traditional stroke play. The event also allows amateurs another opportunity to experience tournament disc golf at the highest level.

https://www.pdga.com/rules/official-rules-disc-golf/appendix-a

There are two exceptions/clarifications to these rules:

A.06.b.
If a pair of players is all square at the end of the round, the match is tied. The Director decides if and how ties are to be broken.
Breaking Ties: USAMPC matches that end up all square after 18 holes will begin a sudden death play-off starting on the first hole that they had began their round on.
